Alpine Tactical Training Center

US Military training for high altitude mountaineering on alpine snow in Rocky Mountain National ParkColorado Mountain School specializes in mountain training for military operations groups. Our guides are dedicated mountain professionals with certifications from the American Mountain Guides Association. All CMS guides have been Wilderness First Responder and CPR trained and certified, and many have higher level and specialized medical training for the unique challenges of the mountain environment.

Colorado Mountain School is the oldest permitted mountain guide service in Rocky Mountain National Park. We are the true local experts to Colorado’s northernmost 14er Longs Peak. Elevations in RMNP range from about 7,500 feet to 14,259’ above sea level, making it an exceptional and challenging climate for mountain and cold-weather environment training.

With more than 100 peaks towering above 10,000 feet, Rocky Mountain National Park offers a lifetime’s worth of spires, snow couloirs, ice climbs, and technical peak ascents.  Though striking in their exposure and quality, almost all of the routes in Rocky Mountain National Park can be climbed in a day.  Capped by Longs Peak, Colorado’s most coveted 14er, “The Park” is the perfect mix of an easily accessible training ground for alpine skills and remote wilderness climbing objectives. Winters are harsh and long, typically providing a deep snowpack for trainees to maneuver in the snow on skis, snowshoes, and to build snow caves.
