Grand Traverse Prep Ski Tour
Dreaming of completing the legendary 40-mile Crested Butte to Aspen ski race? Take advantage of this great opportunity to ski the Grand Traverse Course over three days with CMS guides. We will travel on traditional AT gear and spend a night at both the Friends and Barnard Huts en route to Aspen. You’ll get a chance to preview the course, GPS the route, and develop strategy alongside a guide with race experience. Additionally, we’ll make some turns along the way and enjoy some of the great skiing on this iconic Elk Mountains route. Join us even if you’re not a racer and just want to experience a classic tour!
We designed this outing to offer folks interested in the race a look at the course. However, we will approach the trip with a ski touring mindset. Participants are encouraged to bring their touring skis (not race) to take advantage of the great skiing opportunities along the way.
Participants should be prepared to carry a pack with extra clothing, food, and a summer-weight sleeping bag for the huts. Plan to ski with ~30lbs.
