Petit Grepon Alpine Rock Course
This 2 day Petit Grepon course focuses on preparing to and climbing a multi pitch alpine route in Rocky Mountain National Park. By the end, students will have experienced an alpine rock route in RMNP. This course covers the logistics required to climb a multi pitch rock route with a planned bivy the night before the climb. A bivy permit, light weight camp set ups, and food planning will all be a part of this experience. This course will include multi pitch climbing preparation, good communication, and improve technical climbing skills. This course is also designed to give the intermediate climber the experience of climbing alpine rock route in RMNP and build efficiency. The South Face III 5.8 on Petit Grepon is a popular objective for this course.
Proficient at top roping, experienced lead belaying, physical ability to hike 5 miles with overnight pack.

Day 1: Plan for a multi-day alpine climbing outing. Hike into Loch Vale in RMNP (4.9 miles). Set up bivy camp at Sky Pond below Petit Grepon and prepare for the next day’s climb.
Day 2: Alpine start to climb the South Face III 5.8 on Petit Grepon. Hike out (6 miles) to the trail head.
