Eric Whewell

Eric Whewell is the Field Director for Colorado Mountain School as well as the American Avalanche Institute and a former full-time CMS Guide. Eric is certified through the American Mountain Guides Association in the Rock, Alpine and Ski disciplines. He was the 88th American to attain IFMGA certification and has guided all across the US, South America and Europe. Eric is part of the AMGA Instructor Team, teaching and evaluating aspiring guides on courses and exams. Additionally, he is an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Program Provider, serves on the Technical Committee for the AMGA and is a Leave No Trace Trainer. Eric graduated from Western Colorado University with a degree in Outdoor Leadership.

Eric lives in Boulder with his family and enjoys honing his personal climbing craft in his spare time.
