Originally from Phoenix, Arizona Jason moved to Colorado’s Front Range in 2002 after serving in the Marine Corps. “When I first laid eyes on the Flatirons soaring high above Boulder I knew I had to live here.”
Soon after moving to Colorado I dedicated myself to rock climbing, mountaineering, and back-country skiing and soaked up all the fun that could be had with each adventure.
Jason has been an AMGA certified single pitch instructor since 2007 and is currently pursuing IFMGA certification. As an apprentice ski, rock, and alpine guide, Jason thoroughly enjoys guiding all the disciplines from intro to rock courses, to multi day big alpine objectives. Jason is also an AIARE level 1 avalanche course instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and LNT trainer.
Jason brings to Colorado Mountain School a vast array of alpine climbing and ski mountaineering experiences, from multiple climbing trips into the remote Wind River Range of Wyoming, to putting up new routes on unclimbed towers in Rocky Mountain National Park, to skiing in the Alaska range and the big volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest. Jason loves experiencing the adventures that the mountains can offer and sharing those experiences with those around him.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in fine arts from the University of Colorado and when not guiding you can find me hanging out with my wolf dog Butters and running in the Flatirons.
