Colorado Mountain School Guide, Max Lurie, stand under the snow-covered Diamond on Longs Peak.Max was raised along the rocky and rugged coastline of Maine. However, the mountains always called to him and he sought out climbing on the Pink Cadillac granite of Acadia National Park. Ever since he was a teenager his pursuit of mountains has been a driving force in his life. For more than fifteen years he has traveled in pursuit of this passion.

After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Maine, Max began his career as a mountain guide in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, moving there in 2009. There he discovered his real passion for ice and mixed climbing during the long, cold New England winters. Max is equally at home on the steep unrelenting ice climbs of the Canadian Rockies as he is the crisp patina edge of Red Rock. Eventually, he went west in pursuit of bigger mountains, guiding on Mount Rainier and in the North Cascades National Park.

Max is an American Mountain Guide Association certified rock and alpine guide, as well as an accomplished alpinist. He has been traveling the world to guide and climb all across the US, Canada, Alaska, and South America. Currently, Max guides in Rocky Mountain National Park and along the Front Range of Colorado. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his partner Katie and their dog Dexter. When he isn’t guiding he is often found out in the mountains honing his craft and climbing personally.
