Shane Wolfe

Shane grew up in the “Land of Enchantment,” aka New Mexico. Right after graduating high school, he knew that taking a more “traditional” career path was not for him. Being outside and embracing every season that Mother Nature has to offer was what he really wanted. He started working as a whitewater rafting guide in the summers and a professional snowboard instructor during the winter months. In order to be able to continue his desire to be on his snowboard over 100 days each winter, he shifted gears for his summer work and started fighting wildland fires for the U.S. Forest Service, which has done for the past 12 seasons. “Working over a year’s worth of work in just 5 months allowed me to have the winters off and continue to hone my craft as a backcountry splitboarder.”

The learning curve for a beginning splitboarder is very steep and, after years of learning the ropes on his own, he has decided to share his passion with others as a splitboard guide and avalanche educator. Shane is a certified AIARE level 1 instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and has spent the past ten winters chasing storms, exploring, and learning about various snowpacks throughout the west within every major mountain range. His years as a full time snowboard instructor and backcountry splitboarder taught him patience and a huge appreciation for anyone that wants to get into the backcountry on their snowboard. His passion for the wilds of nature and following your heart to do what you love are evident in the way he teaches.
