Overview:

Are you new to the mountains?  This two-day program is the initiation you are looking for.  We start from the very beginning and our guides introduce you to the joys of exploring natural landscapes, hiking, safety, and preparedness.  You will spend 2 days hiking in the State Forest State Park Wilderness with Colorado Mountain School’s expert guides.  You will learn how to plan short day trips into the mountains, and right away you will begin to appreciate the challenges and rewards of mountain travel in a group.

At Colorado Mountain School, most of our guides had a memorable first experience in the mountains. Long before they became expert guides and climbers, someone showed them that the mountains are a magical and rewarding place to wander and explore. Someone with expertise took the time to show them how to plan a trip, teach them the skills they needed to be safe and comfortable, and open the door to all the subsequent mountain pursuits that followed. Our Hiking Course provides this introduction for you in just two days.  Our expert guides will teach you how to plan your trips and pursue your passion in the mountains on your own.
